No, that isn't a problem in the least. I live in the Chicago area and drive to and back from conventions each day they're taking place. Never booked a room at all.

alright i have set it up and it would be super if you guys can spread it around. if you want to go to the photoshoot, it has been set up for saturday at 8:30pm at the docks. Yep. I'm sure...never know when it may become useful Masterhavik - Koalatytime may have people in the room that they think will be fine, but you never really know people until you live with them. You can be great friends with someone, but that person can be awful to live with. I just say as a general rule, unless you have known your roommates for a while, it's probably not the best idea to room with them. You don't know if they will steal stuff from you while you are gone, what people they will bring back to the rooms, if they are going to respect the room etc. All manner of things can go wrong when you room with people you don't know.

Securitysam - I just moved as well (from a different region of the US, so I don't know anyone out here lol) Marbleyes - I agree with Sprache, very awesome that you are cosplaying your own character! I too am an unoriginal person, and in addition to that I am incredibly slow when gathering costumes, so I understand not having the time to plan a costume from an established series. This is my first time going to AnimeMidwest as well, although it is definitely not my first con. I have to say that I think I am the odd one out here as I am actually not all too familiar with many animes aside from what my friends tell me. I go to conventions as more of a social activity for me lol But my favorite shows include Hannibal, Criminal Minds, House, and Beyond Scared Straight (lol I watch weird mainstream TV).

Oh gosh the first part of this description sounded like the friend I'm going to this con with. I have a feeling you two would get along. Ahhh SPG is one of the main things that made this con irresistible for me. I love their style! Oh gosh I can't wait to see the Vanellope one!!

Steam powered Giraffe was one of the main temptations for me. I am extremely excited to see them and hopefully chat with them. Make sure you eat and drink! Some people tend to forget due to the excitement.
