My daughter and her friend ( who are both 15) will be attending the conference for the first time any suggestions on what events they would enjoy or any advice for first time attendees? they're huge Homestuck fans!!!!!

They should have a set schedule of what they would like to do. Attending panels, meetups, going to the events, buying things from the vendors hall, etc. Anything that interests them. It's mainly to have a great time and meet new people. Since they're homestuck fans, they should definitely go to panels and meetups relating to that.

Curious as to if they will be cosplaying from Homestuck or not. There are a few homestuck related events going around, as well as a meetup I believe. My main advice is stay hydrated, bring money for food (believe it or not you really cant live off just the free ramen), and dont be afraid to ask for help with directions and such. The staff at Midwest are really great and can help if your daughter and her friend need anything. They are also the people to go to should your daughter and friend feel at all uncomfortable with something/someone. Anime Midwest is awesome! They are sure to have a great time and want to come back ^^

Thanks for the advice. Yes they will be cosplaying as homestuck characters :) Do you know if they need to be accompanied by an adult? is there any age restrictions for any of the events?

From what I was told most of the age restricted panels happen late at night as long as they are of 15 years of age then don't have to have a parental guardian. The staff also make it a priority to check the age before you can go to the panels, though this is just what I was told.

Right on. Most of the restricted panels start after hours (10pm and so on). However if you are unsure about an even during the day the schedule provided online can tell you. Lap they will get a booklet at con with a map, and schedule of events that will say if they are not old enough to go to. They will check badges for these types of events. I hear they are using the scan code on the badges to check badges.
