When you arrive make a couple of new friends to hang with and maybe go to some panels together. Find out from seasoned con veterans (of that particular con) what they most and least enjoy at the con. Don't blow your money in the dealers hall. Take stock of everything you see after walking around the entire place--make a budget and stick to it.
