That's a great idea to book a room a day early, a lot less stres. My checkin at the Crown isn't until 3 p.m. I'm arriving Friday morning. I'm debating if I should book a room for Thursday, schedule an early checkin ($25) on Friday, or see if someone searching for a roommate would let me come in for awhile Friday morning for some $. I'm going to the tea party, which date hasn't been announced yet, but I am guessing it will be early Friday afternoon.
Sometimes you can check in early if the room is ready. I've arrived in the morning/early afternoon hours before and my room was ready then. Just depends. Booking a day early is always fun because it sorta of extends the con for you. You can hang with other early birds (:
I'm hoping that it will be a lot less stressful. Last year for ACen my friend and I showed up on Friday morning a little after 11AM due to traffic which was not pleasant and Chicago is no joke for that. Then we had to wait until her mum could check us into the Westin so we had to keep all of our stuff in the car until around 6PM when we finally got into the hotel. It sucked because whenever we had to make a cosplay adjustment we'd have to walk back to her car and I was wearing high-heeled boots so...not a great start to the con. xD We learned our lesson. Glad to be 19 and able to check ourselves into the Hyatt early!
And I'm sure you'd be able to check in early, elle2105! It's better to have everything there and be ready than to struggle getting ready on Friday morning and make it in time.
Thanks SugaMaple. I'm not sure how much stuff you had but most hotels will let you drop off your luggage in a locked luggage room before the room is ready and also after you checkout you can leave there it for awhile as well. I'm taking the train, just from Milwaukee but I don't want to drive with all the holiday traffic. Happy Cosplayer-the Crowne Plaza, where I am staying, has a policy for $25 they will put you on an early checkin list and give you room if it is available.
Ah. I stayed at the Hyatt last year and my room was ready a little after 12, and the year before it was ready by 1045 on Friday. Every hotel is different
